The rustcell trisphorous split from its ancestor, the herbivorous trisphorous. It is a curious species, that although rare, can be found in many biomes throughout Mason. Specialized on eating rustcells, with the occasional piece of vegetable matter, it has adapted to the rarity of these. With an extremely slow metabolism, it spends almost all of its time in a dormant state, until high amounts of iron oxide are detected in an area. Other than that, it much resembles its ancestor. Unfortunately for the pestcell, their expensive habit of consuming waste, as well as their inefficiency in heterotrophism, has led them to decrease in population to near extinction in all shared biomes.
