The eastern foldbulb replaced their ancestor, the airbulb. Their trunks have adapted further to protect them in the harsh Mason nights. They are now heliotropic, and will move in response to the sun. This is done by gas cells that record the motion of the sun. They slowly deflate towards the west. When the sun reaches a certain angle in the sky that indicates night is approaching, the collapse in on themselves, and will not return until they sense light once again.
